Indigenous Technology and Renewable Energy

A group of local scientist and inventors has come up with a design of a hydro-electric power plant that can generate up to 3MWatts of electricity which will be very useful for the riverine communities of Bayesla State of Nigeria.

The idea is to construct an over-head reservoir and water is pumped from the abundant rivers and creeks of the Niger Delta region and then run through turbines again. After the initial pumping by either a diesel and gasoline powered pump, the electricity… Continue

Zenith Energy is presenting two workshops:
    a wind resource assessment and
the design of horizontal axis wind turbine rotor.

Have you considered Wind Energy? Found it to complicated ... not true, if it is understood. Zenith Energy, in conjunction with Dr Alexandre Costa, researcher from the Wind Energy Unit, division of Renewable Energy, CIEMAT, Spanish Ministry of Science & Technology and Innovation are presenting brand new Wind Energy courses to South African wind energy professionals, specifically developed to assist in understanding how wind power can be implemented effectively in all sectors of industry.

The workshop is oriented to professionals (with/without previous knowledge of wind energy), being its main objective to give the fundamental concepts on wind behaviour, as well as to train participants concerning different methodologies for the wind resource assessment and designing of horizontal Axes Turbine Rotor.

These courses will allocate time for delegates to discuss the challenges they have faced with their wind energy project viability and design, as well as to evaluate current projects that have not been seen through to fruition.

Delegates will also be assisted in identifying viable new wind energy projects ideal for their requirements.

Oh really great your comment:
like for the elementary school to teach them about climate zones, their specific resources and their need to be protected for the global climate as well as for maintaining the needed equilibrium; also to introduce them in the various energy sources for transport and electricity; for example to introduce as well the hydropower that can make use of the strong stormy power of seawater on high cliffs with entering turbines that transfer the water power into electricity; in desert the solarenergy ecc. Do you have more concerns ? Susanne
