Jatropha in Africa

CQ Consulting is a UK based company which supplies Jatropha products and consultancy to clients, mostly in Europe and Africa. We advised Jatropha Africa on its establishment as a Jatropha cultivating company, and continue as its partner for the sale of high yielding Improved and Standard seeds.

Ohene Akoto and I, co-founded Jatropha Africa, in 2006. We established one of the first 3 private sector Jatropha farms in Ghana. Ohene and I speak at Biofuel and Jatropha related conferences. We are keen to inform people that Jatropha is part of the mix of energy solutions, for rural communities with land suited to the crop, and for energy users seeking a sustainable biofuel. We favour Jatropha being cultivated on land which avoids having a negative impact on food prices.

Our clients include research centres, companies, and farming groups in Italy, Portugal, the UK, Mozambique, the US, and Singapore.

In addition to the Jatropha Africa managed farm in Ghana, we supply seed and advise small farmers and government bodies on adding Jatropha to their activities, We are in favour of 'small farmer friendly' and 'poverty reduction' policies which relate to agriculture and energy.

Hi Ruud, Thanks for accepting the invitation. Good to hear that you will be speaking in Ghana in October. I do not have plans to be there at that time, however our Operations Director, Ohene Akoto will almost certainly be representing Jatropha Africa. I tend to be based around London. Regards - Clive

Hello Stacey. Agreed - very useful conference in Ghana. I learned a good deal. Some tips on what to do, and some lessons on how best not to go about Jatropha cultivation. Your case study of community projects in Ghana which you had advised on, was useful. Clearly that was a positive intervention for your client.
Best regards - Clive

Hello Ruud. It was a pleasure to swap experiences. I have a lot of respect for Diligent and its 3 Ps approach.
All the best - Clive

Conference was great. Was nice to finally meet so many people in person that I'd been speaking to electronically. And I loved hearing about some of the other initiatives outside of West Africa. Sounds like it was successful for you as well. I look forward to keeping in touch with you and perhaps collaborating in the future.

Clive,

Someone from our staff made a visit to Ghana this year, however I do not know the current status of the Ghana Program. Contact Ethan Budiansky, and he can provide you with further details.
